About the Artist

I was born in Cairo, Egypt in 1964. Raised in Nigeria and settled in Montreal in 1972. I now live in a city off of Montreal; Hudson, Quebec, since 2000.

It all began as a beautiful hobby…

And when retirement opened its doors to me in 2020, I left the corporate world and began my artistic journey, honing my craft.

This hobby of mine became more and more a form of expression and as a cliché, yes; painting was all of a sudden, a passion! It became my way to focus on the present moment and find my creative “flow”.

I started experimenting with oil painting in 1995, and over the years, I taught myself how to perfect my skills with many online tutorials, studied with local well-known artists and improved on various techniques.

With each challenge working on a canvas, I grew as an artist and learned to appreciate painting even more.

Art washes away from the soul, the dust of everyday life

Style & Themes

My style is a mix of realism and contemporary art, often with an added touch of mystery and curiosity, enjoying attention to pretty much every little detail. My love to create nature, landscapes and floral themes is inspired by capturing details of light, color and movement. I also aspire to convey in my canvases an emotion and a state of mind.

Testimonials

“I have been looking at the painting (Serenity) several times daily and I love the feeling of the leaves and the idea of sitting under the tree in solitude. Thank you for painting it for me…I will cherish it for many years to come.”

“I am now the very proud owner of your painting – The whispers of phragmites – which I was extremely lucky enough to come across Saturday morning at the Lakeshore artists exhibit at Stewart Hall, shortly after it opened. The moment my daughter and I laid eyes upon the painting, we couldn’t look away.  It is such a beautiful and compelling painting.  The subject is simple, but  the colours, details, and blending techniques used create an image that is absolutely stunning.  It went straight to the heart of me and   I knew I could not leave without the painting. I would like to congratulate you for this piece and on your enormous talent.  I look forward to seeing more of your work in future exhibits!”
